Entrances
Entrances control the flow of traffic in and out of the dog park. Design considerations include gate type, gate design, and the number of entrances into the dog park.
Gate Type
Dual-Gate Entrance
A dual gate or “airlock” zone allows a dog owner to bring a dog into a confined space on- leash, where the dog can be unleashed before entry to the dog park. To leave the dog park, the process is reversed.
Single-Gate Entrance
Single gate entrances allow direct access to the off leash area from outside the fence line. This is generally ill advised as it creates higher risk of dogs escaping from the dog park.
Gate Design
Communities with more resources or a larger budget may choose to invest more in their gates and opt for a decorative design as opposed to using the fencing material..
