Common Canine Conditions
The following is a list of canine conditions that are commonly seen in general practice that are of particular interest to the Foundation. Canine conditions not on this list may also be considered, but topics pertaining to other species are not eligible for our clinical trial or literature review grants.
Top priority:
- Dermatology topics such as atopic dermatitis, otitis externa, aural hematoma, dermatophytosis
- Dentistry topics such as evidence for home care options to prevent periodontal disease
- Ophthalmology topics such as glaucoma, corneal ulcers, KCS
- Urinary topics such as urinary tract infections and chronic kidney disease
- Reproductive topics such as pyometra, dystocia, eclampsia
Other topics of interest:
- Endocrinology topics such as diabetes mellitus, hypoadrenocorticism, hyperadrenocorticism
- Cardiology topics such as MMVD and congestive heart failure
- Neurology topics such as seizures/epilepsy, IVDD
Of lower priority but still of interest:
- Respiratory topics such as collapsing trachea, GOLPP, CIRD
- Orthopedic topics such as CCL injury, fracture repair techniques
- Gastrointestinal topics such as AHDS, IBD
- Infectious disease topics such as HWD, Lyme disease, Leptospirosis, CPV
- Oncology topics such as lymphoma, mast cell tumors
