Spectrum of Care Clinical Research Program
The Foundation has identified two central challenges to promoting and improving canine health: (1) owners’ inability to afford ‘best option’ recommendations for veterinary care; and (2) the lack of scientific evidence supporting lower cost options. As such, dog owners with limited financial resources must often make difficult decisions, including no care or “economic euthanasia” for their beloved dog. Through its clinical research program, the Foundation aims to help these owners by providing their veterinarians with multiple evidence-based care options within their financial means. Specifically, the Foundation will fund clinical research to evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic protocols. Such research will reduce client costs, promote canine health and welfare, and allow primary care physicians to practice confidently along a broad spectrum in professionally, emotionally and financially rewarding practices.
